Members of the Estevan Police Service conducted check stops around the city on Canada Day.  More than 500 vehicles were checked during that time. Three tickets for traffic related offences were issued to motorists, along with one three-day driver’s licence suspension when the driver blew a warning on the roadside alcohol screening device.

Also on Wednesday, members were called to a disturbance in west Estevan in which two people were arrested for public intoxication. They were released from custody later in the evening when family members were able to attend and take responsibility for them.

Police arrested a 21-year-old Estevan woman at a traffic stop Tuesday as she was in a vehicle with a person that she isn’t allowed to have contact with. She was later released with her new charges for court in August.

Officers arrested a 32-year-old Estevan man for assault. He was also released a short time after his arrest on conditions with an August court date.

Members received a report of criminal harassment and uttering threats on Sunday. The matter is still under investigation.

Police received a driving complaint in relation to the road construction on Souris Avenue South and Highway 47 South. An individual was reported to not be following the instructions of the flag persons. The matter is still under investigation. The police ask the public to be patient and possibly avoid the constructions zones while the work is done within the city.
