Individuals charged in drug bust make court appearances

Three people who were arrested in a drug bust last week were back in Estevan Provincial Court on Monday. Landon Boutin and Rosslynn Knudsen had their matters adjourned to Dec. 3 for show-cause hearings. They will remain in custody until that time.

Three people who were arrested in a drug bust last week were back in Estevan Provincial Court on Monday.

Landon Boutin and Rosslynn Knudsen had their matters adjourned to Dec. 3 for show-cause hearings. They will remain in custody until that time.

Robbie Shiels, meanwhile, was released with conditions and a $500 cash recognizance.

Two other people were arrested in the bust. Zachary Gessner remains in custody for a show-cause hearing on Dec. 3.

Heather Birdsell was released with conditions on Thursday.

They were apprehended Wednesday following an investigation by the Estevan Police Service’s (EPS) Drug and Intelligence Unit regarding the trafficking of methamphetamine and various other street-level drugs within the city.

Each has been charged with conspiracy to traffic a controlled substance, trafficking methamphetamine and possession for the purpose of trafficking methamphetamine.

The first charge is under the Criminal Code, and the other two are under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

Knudsen was additionally charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking psilocybin under the Controlled Drugs and Substance Act, and possession of an imitation weapon for a purpose dangerous to the public under the Criminal Code.

Gessner was charged with breaching a probation order for failing to keep the peace and to be of good behaviour under the Criminal Code.

The charges have not been proven in court.
