The Estevan Police Service has yet to arrest or charge anyone for social distancing or self-isolation in Estevan.

In an email to the Mercury, Deputy Police Chief Murray Cowan said they have had a total of 25 calls since mandatory orders came out earlier this month. They have received calls for both those not social distancing and people who haven’t self-isolated after returning from international travel.

People are being asked to stay at least two metres apart. They are also required to self-isolate for at least 14 days after returning to Canada from international travel.

Cowan said there has been success in educating the community with respect to social distancing and the requirements. People have also been directed to the provincial government’s COVID-19 website for more information.
