Police arrest impaired driver from Alberta

Members of the Estevan Police Service (EPS) arrested an impaired driver during Friday’s night shift. Police stopped a 29-year-old man from Red Deer, Alta., for speeding. The man was then arrested for impaired driving and driving while over .08.

Police stopped a 29-year-old man from Red Deer, Alta., for speeding. The man was then arrested for impaired driving and driving while over .08. He was processed and released with a future court date to deal with his charges.

  • Police also received multiple calls of a couple of moose that were loose on the north end of the city that night. Police monitored the movements as best they could with hopes the animals would make their way out of the city. Police did not see them again and no further calls came in during the night.
  • In other recent EPS news, police received a report of stolen property involving two roommates during the Oct. 29 day shift. The matter is still under investigation.
  • Members responded a male causing a disturbance in the Willow Park Greens Trailer Park during the Oct. 29 night shift. Officers were able to mediate a resolution that satisfied all parties.
  • The EPS received a complaint of an assault that took place in the 1200-block of Sixth Street. The matter is under investigation.
  • Police conducted multiple curfew checks on individuals on judicial releases. All were home.
  • Officers received a call during the Oct. 30 night shift, in which the caller was concerned about a co-worker not being at work for a number of days. Police attended and took the individual to the hospital for assessment.
  • Police received a driving complaint regarding a vehicle failing to stop for a red light. The matter is still under investigation.
  • Members were called to a business regarding a disturbance. Officers attended and mediated a solution.
  • Police received a report of a theft of natural gas from a north end residence during the Oct. 31 day shift. Officers are investigating the matter.
  • Members were called regarding mischief to a vehicle. The suspect has been identified and the matter remains under investigation.
  • Police received a report during the Nov. 1 day shift of a theft of a mountain bike that occurred about a month earlier. The complainant had left it outside a business insecure and when the complainant returned the bike was gone. Police remind the public to secure their property when leaving it unattended.
  • Officers were called about a driving complaint involving a local company vehicle being operated improperly. The caller didn’t want to identify themselves nor did the caller want to provide a statement as to what was witnessed. Police were unable to take any further action other than document on the matter.
  • Police stopped at a couple of different locations during the Nov. 2 night shift to check Saskatchewan Liquor and Gaming Authority permits that were issued for special events. All appeared to be in compliance with the conditions of the permit.
  • Members also received a call of a possible impaired driver during the evening. Police located the vehicle and the driver was found not to be impaired.
  • Police responded during the Nov. 3 night shift to a dog that was hanging out in the 500-block of Second Street. Attempts to locate an owner were made but unfortunately no one was located. The dog was taken to the Estevan Humane Society’s animal shelter.
  • Officers conducted a well-being check on a female on the north end of the city. She was located at her residence and everything was fine.
  • Police responded to a noise complaint on the south end of the city. The homeowner was warned of the bylaw.
  • Members were called to a noise complaint on the north east side of the city. The homeowner was also warned about the bylaw.
  • Police stopped a couple of suspicious vehicles in the industrial areas in east and south Estevan. Both appear to belong in the area and no criminal activity was detected.
  • Officers stopped a vehicle on Kensington Avenue doing 98 kilometres per hour. The Alberta driver was charged for speeding and received a fine of $776.
  • Police also received reports of attempted frauds. In one instance, the caller told the complainant that a prize had been won through a STARS Air Ambulance lottery. To claim the prize, the caller wanted money. Police remind the Public that you shouldn’t have to pay a deposit to claim a prize. No money was exchanged. The matter is still under investigation.
