Police handle a variety of calls to start the weekend

Members of the Estevan Police Service made an arrest for outstanding warrants, and also issued a large fine for distracted driving early on the weekend. Police arrested a 51-year-old Estevan woman for outstanding warrants from Regina on Saturday.

Members of the Estevan Police Service made an arrest for outstanding warrants, and also issued a large fine for distracted driving early on the weekend.

Police arrested a 51-year-old Estevan woman for outstanding warrants from Regina on Saturday. She was later released to appear in Regina Provincial Court to answer to the charges.

Members attended to two disputes throughout the day. On both occasions, officers were able to mediate a temporary resolution.

Police received a report of an assault that took place. Statements were obtained from the victim and the matter is still under investigation.

Officers were called to a report of an intoxicated male outside of a local business. He had no identification, and members were not able to ascertain his identity. The male was lodged in cells until sober.

According to a tweet from the EPS on Saturday, a driver was issued a $1,400 fine and their vehicle was impounded for seven days due to a second offence for distracted driving in a 12-month span.

Police received two separate reports of criminal harassments Friday. One of the matters was resolved with an Estevan male being warned for his actions. The second criminal harassment complaint is still under investigation.

Officers received a complaint of an assault that had taken place. Members attended and located a male and female who had been involved. The male received medical attention at the scene. Both were arrested and lodged in cells until sober. The matter continues to be looked into.
