Police make an arrest Sunday for assault with a weapon

Members of the Estevan Police Service (EPS) were dispatched to a northeast Estevan apartment Sunday on the report of an assault that occurred between the occupants.

A female was arrested upon arrival and transported to hospital for minor injuries. She was then transported to the police station where she was lodged in cells. Further investigation resulted in the Estevan female being charged with assault with a weapon, uttering threats and breaching the conditions of her release order to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. She will remain in custody pending her appearance in Estevan Provincial Court on Monday.

In other recent police news, officers were called to a two-vehicle collision Friday at the intersection of 13th Avenue at Fifth Street. One of the vehicles ended up on it side. Fire, Estevan Emergency Medical Services and police all attended and the occupants of both vehicles were safely removed and transported to St. Joseph’s Hospital for treatment. The collision remains under investigation.

Police arrested a 21-year-old Regina man for breaching conditions of his release. He was released later in the evening for court in Estevan.

A 35-year-old Estevan woman was arrested and charged with mischief under the Criminal Code as a result of a disturbance at a south Estevan residence. After being arrested, the female kicked the door of a police vehicle, causing damage. She is scheduled to make her first appearance in Estevan Provincial Court on Dec. 21.

Police responded to a male in distress at a west Estevan parking lot. The male was located and brought to hospital without incident, where he was assessed by doctors before being admitted.

More graffiti was found by members in central Estevan. The public is encouraged to call the Estevan Police Service or Crime Stoppers regarding any information they may have regarding this ongoing crime.

The EPS received a report Saturday of an unknown suspicious white van driving around in a north central Estevan neighbourhood. The van was located and a traffic stop was made, at which time the male driver was identified and spoken to. After a lengthy discussion, he was allowed to continue on his way. The public is reminded to always be on the safe side and continue to report suspicious incidents.

Police stopped a driver from British Columbia in the 900-block of Fourth Street on Sunday. A roadside alcohol test was completed and he blew a warning. The driver was suspended from driving for three days as a result. The vehicle he was driving was also impounded for three days.

Police stopped a truck downtown for a traffic offence. The female driver had two warrants for her arrest. She was taken into custody and released a short time later with a new court date.

Police took a report of a theft of oilfield equipment from a business in east Estevan. Police do not have a lot of details at the moment and are gathering evidence. If anyone saw anything suspicious or has any information on this theft, please call the EPS or Crime Stoppers.
