Members of the Estevan Police Service (EPS) recently made an arrest for committing an indecent act and resisting arrest.

According to information supplied by the police on Tuesday, at around 10:30 a.m. Friday, police were called to the area around Fourth Avenue just south of Perkins Street, to a report of a suspicious man.

A 52-year-old Estevan man was located and arrested for committing an indecent act in a public place. He is facing charges for this as well as resisting arrest.

He was taken before a justice of the peace and released on conditions as he awaits his first court appearance.

Also on Friday, police were called to a local gym to a report of a man refusing to wear a mask. When members attended and attempted to reason with him, he continued to refuse to wear a mask properly. He was subsequently issued a $2,800 ticket for violating the current public health orders.

Police received a complaint Thursday in relation to an attempted scam. The caller advised that the complainant had won a prize through Publisher’s Clearing House and would receive that prize only after sending a cheque to claim it. The complainant realized it was a scam and didn’t respond or provide any funds. The EPS would like to remind the public that calls of this nature are most often fraudulent.

Members received a complaint in relation to a commercial vehicle operating and having an unsecure load. Police investigated and located the vehicle. The driver was warned about ensuring that the items being hauled were properly secured before driving the vehicle.

During the early evening hours, a traffic stop was made that resulted in a 54-year-old Estevan man having his licence suspended for 90 days and his vehicle impounded for 14 days as a result of a breath sample that was provided into a roadside screening device. The larger than normal durations of the drivers licence suspension and vehicle impoundment were a result of this being his third offence.
