Southeast company fined for workplace accident

A southeast Saskatchewan company has been fined following a workplace accident that occurred in 2018. Rosengren Farms pleaded guilty in Estevan Provincial Court on Oct. 26 to one count under The Occupational Health and Safety Regulations, 1996.

Rosengren Farms pleaded guilty in Estevan Provincial Court on Oct. 26 to one count under The Occupational Health and Safety Regulations, 1996.

The company was charged for contravening clause 12(c) of the regulations (being an employer, fail to provide any information, instruction, training and supervision that is necessary to protect the health and safety of workers at work, resulting in the serious injury of a worker).

The company was fined $8,500 with a $3,400 surcharge, totaling $11,900.

Charges resulted from a worksite incident that occurred on Oct. 31, 2018, in the Midale area.  A worker was seriously injured while a pallet was being lifted.
