Two impaired drivers arrested in one day

Two drivers were arrested and charged for impaired driving and driving over .08 on Feb. 15. The first incident occurred after a traffic stop on King Street.

Two drivers were arrested and charged for impaired driving and driving over .08 on Feb. 15.

The first incident occurred after a traffic stop on King Street. Police arrested and charged a 50-year-old Estevan man with impaired driving and driving over .08. The man will appear in Provincial Court in April to answer to the charges. His driver’s licence has been suspended indefinitely and the vehicle he was operating was impounded for 30 days.

The same day an Estevan Police Service member working with the Combined Traffic Services unit arrested and charged a 42-year-old man from Manor with impaired driving and driving over .08 after a traffic stop in the Carlyle area. His license was suspended indefinitely and his vehicle was impounded for 30 days. He will appear in Provincial Court in April to answer to the charges.

In other recent police news, on Feb. 14, a complaint of fraud was reported to the police. The incident occurred at a local business where an individual passed a counterfeit bill to pay for a purchase.  A suspect has been identified, the matter remains under investigation.

Police received information where scammers attempted to extort money from local residents. In these incidents, no money or personal information was passed.

Members also received a complaint of a dog at large. Bylaw enforcement officer was able to locate the owner who was reminded about the bylaw.

Police were requested to conduct welfare checks on a couple of residents. The individuals were located and found to be fine.

Police received a RID (Report an Impaired Driver) complaint just after the sun came up on Feb. 17. Members located the vehicle and driver. The driver supplied a sample of breath and passed.

A second RID call was received in the afternoon. The vehicle was located. The driver was not impaired but was warned to drive more cautiously.

EPS members attended to a disturbance in the Hillside area of the city. Officers spoke to the parties involved and mediated a resolution for the day.

Police received an attempt scam report again on Monday. The complainant did not relay any information to the callers. The matter was forwarded to the Anti Fraud Unit.
