The St. Joseph’s Healthcare Auxiliary celebrated Christmas by holding its annual potluck meeting Dec. 16.

Reports from various committees were delivered during the meeting.

The auxiliary’s semi-annual tea, bake sale and silent auction was held Dec. 4 at the hospital’s auditorium, and was described by the auxiliary as being very successful. Auxiliary members, United Way volunteers and the public supported the event.

A cheque for $70,000 was presented to Greg Hoffort, who is the CEO for the auxiliary. The money will be directed to the auxiliary’s current fundraising project, which is purchasing new beds and mattresses for the long-term care home.

This was the largest presentation the auxiliary has made to the hospital. Support from an anonymous donor, an allocation from the United Way Estevan and the efforts of the auxiliary contributed to the size of the cheque presentation.

The next meeting will be Feb. 17 at 1:30 p.m. in the hospital’s auditorium. Anyone who is interested is invited to attend.
