The St. Joseph’s Healthcare Auxiliary gathered at the hospital’s auditorium for its monthly meeting on Oct. 15.

Members honoured Mary Martin for her 20 years of service as a member. She contributes in many ways, selling tickets, baking and serving at the semi-annual tea and bake sales, and helps out in any other way possible. She also delivered the canteen for over 10 years.

The auxiliary started a new program called Teddy Bears Anonymous, in which they supply stuffed animals to young children who are patients in the hospital.

Hospital executive director Greg Hoffort attended the meeting to tell the members about the upcoming 80-year anniversary for both the hospital and auxiliary, to be held Nov. 26. The auxiliary will be assisting with the celebration in any way they can.

Plans are also underway for the Christmas tea and bake sale, to be held Dec. 5 in the hospital’s auditorium.

The auxiliary has also offered an honest John book table for some time. Anyone with good used books that they would like to donate can drop them off at the hospital’s patient desk or the gift shop. They help to contribute to the auxiliary’s fundraising, and donations are very much appreciated.
