A fifth candidate has joined the field for a councillor spot on Estevan city council.

Bernadette Wright submitted her nomination papers Monday at city hall. This will be the first time that Wright has been on the ballot for a civic election, but she is currently a member at large on the Estevan board of police commissioners, and she has been on other committees.

She joins incumbents Shelly Veroba and Travis Frank, and first-time candidates Geoff Thiessen and Kirsten Walliser, on the ballot for councillor.

Mayor Roy Ludwig remains the only candidate so far for mayor.

Eric McCrimmon has filed his nomination papers to be one of the two Estevan trustees on the South East Cornerstone Public School Division's board.

The RM of Estevan has also started accepting nomination packages for the position of reeve, and for councillor for Divisions 1, 3 and 5.

Incumbent councillor Lorne Jahn filed nomination papers for Division 1, while Kevin Daoust filed for Division 3.

The deadline to file nomination papers for the municipal and school board elections is Oct. 7. The civic election is Nov. 9.
