The Creighton Lodge Trust Committee’s biggest fundraiser of the year once again proved to be a big success.

The annual gala supper was held Friday night at the Estevan Exhibition building. A sold-out crowd of 225 people filled the building for the event.

It started with a buffet supper, which was a departure from the four-course meal that has been traditionally served. Then comedy duo Don’t Mind Us took to the stage.

“They were just funny,” said Shelly Veroba, who co-manages the lodge alongside Judy Pratt. “They had everybody laughing for the one-hour show.”

A raffle, a silent auction, a live auction and a dance were also part of this year’s event; this was the first year with a live auction.

Veroba said the fundraiser is expected to generate $20,000-$25,000 for the start of the lodge's roof replacement program. The 300 hallway, which is at the southern part of the lodge, will be the first to be replaced.

The trust committee is responsible for the fundraising for capital projects at the lodge.

This week’s edition of the Mercury will have more on this story.
