Estevan's rental vacancy rate at 25.3 per cent

Estevan's vacancy rate now stands at 25.3 per cent, according to the annual rental market report released by the Canada Mortgage Housing Corporation on Tuesday. CMHC conducted the survey in October.

Estevan's vacancy rate now stands at 25.3 per cent, according to the annual rental market report released by the Canada Mortgage Housing Corporation on Tuesday. 

CMHC conducted the survey in October. While Estevan's rental vacancy rate is down from 27.6 per cent last year, the vacancy rate is still the highest in the province. 

Weyburn's is the second-highest at 18.8 per cent.

As for the average amount paid for rent, Estevan is the fourth-highest in Saskatchewan at $906 per month. Last year the average for rent was $898 per month. 

CMHC reports there are 630 total rental units in the city, up from 573 last year.

As for the province as a whole, the average vacancy rate was 9.3 per cent, and the average rental rate was $975 per month.
