Extreme cold warning lifted for Estevan area

The extreme cold warning that had been in effect for the Estevan area has been lifted. Environment Canada lifted the advisory at 4:14 a.m. Monday morning. This latest advisory had been in place since 3:42 p.m.

Environment Canada lifted the advisory at 4:14 a.m. Monday morning. This latest advisory had been in place since 3:42 p.m. Friday afternoon, due to the frigid temperatures and strong northwest winds that Estevan received that left wind child values below -40 C.

A previous extreme cold warning was in place from Jan. 13-16.

The temperatures are still very cold early on Monday, as they are forecasted to be below -20 C Monday morning, but with calm winds. The warm-up is expected to come later in the morning and into the afternoon, with a daytime high of -6 C. The overnight low is expected to be -7 C.

The normal daytime high is -10 C, and the overnight low is -21 C.

Temperatures are expected to remain above normal for the rest of this week.
