Flashback – July 16, 1969

Sheryl Burnett and Glenn Wolkowski were crowned the freckle King and Queen in a ceremony at Valleyview Kinsmen Park.

Burnett, seven years old charmer from Duncan Road, was in Grade 2 at Hillcrest School then and was representing Hillcrest Park.

Wolkowski, a very active 12-year-old member of the Pleasantdale Park, was in Grade 7 at Hillside.

The crowning was followed by a marshmallow roast supervised by Ken McDonald of the recreation office and the various playground supervisors.
