Geoff Thiessen joins councillor field for Estevan's civic election

A first-time candidate has filed his nomination papers for councillor in the upcoming civic election in Estevan.

Geoff Thiessen filed the documents at City Hall. He joins a field that already includes incumbent councillors Shelly Veroba and Travis Frank.

Six candidates will be elected as councillors.

Thiessen, who is the senior pastor at the Estevan Church of God, has been in Estevan since 2012. Prior to coming to Estevan, he was a member of the Canadian Army.

The deadline to file a nomination form is Oct. 7. The election will be Nov. 9.
