Rebecca Duncan of Estevan is going on a mission trip to Mexico in April 2020. And to make that happen she, her family and friends are running a barbecue fundraiser at the Southern Plains Co-op in Estevan on Saturday afternoon.
The plans for the trip are not finalized yet, so Duncan doesn’t know what particular work they will be doing and what kind of help they will be providing. But she said that people who went on the last mission trip were building houses.
She also plans on bringing some clothes, books and other supplies that people might be lacking at their destination.
Duncan will be going on a trip through St. Paul’s United Church, and while in Mexico the group will also be talking to people around them about their faith.
She is the only person from Estevan participating in the mission, and the rest of the group will be from Saskatoon. They will get to know each other closer to the date.
This will be Duncan’s first trip and she is really excited about it.
The barbecue will continue at the Co-op until 2 p.m. on Saturday.
