Rebecca Foord files for city councillor in the civic election

There will be an election for councillor on Estevan city council in the 2020 civic election. Rebecca Foord filed her nomination paper for councillor on Friday afternoon at city hall.

There will be an election for councillor on Estevan city council in the 2020 civic election.

Rebecca Foord filed her nomination paper for councillor on Friday afternoon at city hall. Her decision to run brings the total of councillor candidates to seven; there are six councillor seats on city council.

Foord joins Lindsay Clark, Geoff Thiessen, Kirsten Walliser and Bernadette Wright as first-time candidates in the field. Incumbents Travis Frank and Shelly Veroba have also filed.

Incumbent Mayor Roy Ludwig and challenger Ray Walton have filed papers to be in the mayoral race.

As for the school boards, first-time candidate Eric McCrimmon filed early on to be one of two trustees for Estevan on the South East Cornerstone Public School Division board.

Nobody has filed to be an Estevan representative for the Holy Family Roman Catholic Separate School Division’s board.

The deadline to file nomination papers is Oct. 7.

The civic election will be Nov. 9.
