The city is asking the public to keep an eye on the water around their properties. After extensive rains, southeast Saskatchewan had over the past few days, the water table has risen, which may create problems for some citizens.

“With the recent rains this fall, and especially this week, with Estevan receiving three inches within a week, the water table has risen. This morning we were having reports throughout the city and the southeast Saskatchewan that water is seeping into basements,” said Norm Mack, who is the manager of roads and drainage for the City of Estevan’s public works division.

The city advises the public to check their pumps to make sure that they are operational, not seized up or stuck, and are working fine. It’s also recommended to do a walk around the basements, so if there is a leak it is noticed and the problem is addressed in a timely manner.

All the city systems were all checked and are working properly. But it's the water level that's gone up in the ground because of the recent rains that may result in some flooding.
