Videos: Estevan Parade attracts a crowd

The annual SMILE Services Estevan Parade rolled through Estevan on Friday afternoon. Dozens of entries were received for the parade, which had the theme of Celebrating our Agricultural and Mining Community.

The annual SMILE Services Estevan Parade rolled through Estevan on Friday afternoon.

Dozens of entries were received for the parade, which had the theme of Celebrating our Agricultural and Mining Community. Hundreds of people lined the parade route as well. 

The Estevan Filipino Canadian Association won the award for the best entry in the parade. A joint entry by the Canadian Union of Public Employees and the United Mine Workers of America won for the best interpretation of the theme. Sanjel had the best out of town entry, RBC had the best horse and rider tandem, and St. Joseph's Hospital won for the best comedy. 

The parade serves as the kickoff to the annual Estevan Rodeo each year. The Mercury will have full coverage of the rodeo throughout the weekend.
