Another candidate has filed nomination papers for the upcoming RM of Estevan election.

Tania Hlohovsky Andrist filed her nomination papers for Division 5 this week. Mona Dukart filed her papers for the same division last week.

There will also be elections in Division 1, where incumbent Councillor Lorne Jahn is being challenged by Jeff Mack, and Division 3, where incumbent Councillor Dennis Blackburn will face Kevin Daoust.

Nobody had filed for reeve in the RM as of Friday afternoon.

The elections for Divisions 2, 4 and 6 are slated for 2022.

As for Estevan city council, nobody filed a nomination paper this week, so the list of candidates remains at two for mayor and seven for councillor.

Incumbent Mayor Roy Ludwig and challenger Ray Walton have filed papers for the top job.

Incumbent Councillors Travis Frank and Shelly Veroba are on the councillor ballot, as are first-time Lindsay Clark, Rebecca Foord, Geoff Thiessen, Kirsten Walliser and Bernadette Wright.

Six candidates will be elected for councillor.

On the school board front, Eric McCrimmon remains the only candidate for the two Estevan trustee spots on the South East Cornerstone Public School Division’s board.

Karen Melle filed nomination papers this week to be one of two Estevan trustees on the Holy Family Roman Catholic Separate School Division’s board.

The deadline to file nomination papers is Oct. 7. Those running for city councillor or mayor in Estevan will need to have a criminal records check filed by that date to be on the ballot.

The civic election is Nov. 9.
