Creighton Lodge happenings for September

September was a bit of a jolt to some of us. The lovely summer days quickly turned to cool and sometimes wet ones, and we wondered what happened to fall. At least we didn’t get all the snow they received in Alberta.

The lovely summer days quickly turned to cool and sometimes wet ones, and we wondered what happened to fall. At least we didn’t get all the snow they received in Alberta.

Because of the moisture, our parking lot out front didn’t get completed but it soon will.

We had wonderful entertainment this month with Susan Moser, Gerry and Myrna Linn and friends at our birthday party, Kelly and Del at our family barbeque, Bob Olson at our KFC night, and Janice Hirsch for her sing-a-long.

Thanks to all of you; we love music around here so really appreciate when you give of yourselves this way.

Our annual family barbeque, which is usually held in July, was postponed to September due to the parking lot construction going on this summer. Of course, due to the cool, rainy weather, there was no barbecuing done but we had a wonderful supper of pulled pork, buns, potato salad, marinated vegetables, coleslaw and dessert.

With 200 in attendance, once again we were grateful for our lounge so we could all be together.

Our exercise classes and melt ball classes continue thanks to Monica Mackenzie, Sharon Dayman and Irene Tarnes. Lots of residents also walk every day, some with urban poles and others with their walkers. It’s so important as we age to keep moving and strengthening our muscles. Thank you so much.

We want to thank all the people who help with our cocktail hour, bingo and dog therapy. Sharon Dayman, Melodye Pierson, Norma Blackburn, Joan Wock and Christina Wock keep these activities going for us. We are so fortunate to be able to walk out of our rooms and just go down the hall to attend a multitude of fun activities.

Our ministerial association also needs to be thanked for all the church services, communion and masses they provide for us. With winter coming, it is difficult for us to get out to Sunday services so we appreciate the service coming to us.

Sun Country Hearing’s clinic is a popular event. There were quite a few residents lined up for help with their hearing aids and again it’s so nice they just have to walk down the hall for that assistance. Thanks so much, Melany.

Another very popular new activity we’ve started here at the lodge is Reading and Reminiscing with Roxy Blackmore from the Estevan Public Library. We love the story she reads and then we spend some time discussing it. You know, it’s never too late to join a book club.

The highlight of October is our clothing sale on Oct. 30. You’ll be able to buy Alia, TanJay, French Dressing, Papa plus other miscellaneous brands. Please feel free to attend from 1–5 p.m.

We were saddened by the death of resident Erling Rothe. We will miss him and we want the family to know they are in our thoughts.

We want to welcome Elsie Ludtke to the Creighton Lodge family. Elsie has “fit in” just great and we hope she enjoys her new home as much as we are enjoying her being here.
