Residents of Creighton Lodge were among those in the southeast region who received the COVID-19 vaccine on Saturday.

Forty-five residents received the first dose, which means everyone at the lodge received the vaccine who wanted it or could take the vaccine. There are 50 residents at the lodge.

The vaccine clinic was held at the Estevan Church of God.

Most were transported to the clinic by the SMILE Services van, with funds from United Way Estevan used to provide the SMILE van rides to the clinic. Some residents went on their own or with a friend, while the rest had family drive them.

Creighton Lodge manager Shelly Veroba said nobody had any adverse reactions and they didn't even feel the needle.

The clinic was very well organized and the residents are overjoyed to have had their first shot, she said. Some had not left the lodge since last March, so this was a great first outing for them.
