Daryl Harrison of Alida has announced his candidacy for the Saskatchewan Party’s nomination in the Cannington constituency in the next provincial election.

“Harrison, who was born and raised in the constituency, has a well-rounded background that makes him a well-qualified candidate,” states a press release for his announcement.

He is a lifetime rancher and has been employed in the oilfield for 30 years. He served as a school division trustee on the Souris-Moose Mountain and South East Cornerstone Public School Divisions for 13 years.

He currently sits as a rural municipality councillor, a credit union board member, a director for Zone 1 for the Saskatchewan Stock Growers Association and as a Lions Club member.

After 28 years, Dan D’Autremont, the current Cannington MLA, has decided to retire from politics at the end of the current term. There will be a nomination meeting taking place in the near future.

Harrison said he looks forward to earning the nomination meeting, and hopes to become the Sask. Party candidate for the Cannington constituency in the upcoming 2020 provincial election.
