On Sept 5, the Saskatchewan Health Authority informed Prairie Valley School Division that a staff member at Indian Head Elementary School tested positive for COVID-19.

Indian Head Elementary School will now begin the school year with onlinelearning, rather than in-class learning.

The decision to transition to onlinelearning was made due to reducedin-personstaffing levels available at the school. A number of additional staff members considered close contacts are required to self-isolate for 14 days, as directed by public health officials. In class learning will resume on September 17.

“We are grateful for the support of our public health officials and for their direction,” said Luc Lerminiaux, Director of Education. “Now we are focused on supporting our students and teachers in starting the school year off a little differently than planned.”

Thischange is impacting Indian HeadElementary School exclusively. No other schools or communities are affected.

From September –to-9 staff will be at the school preparing to deliver online learning, which will begin on September 10.

“The safety and well-being of our school community is our top priority and we will continue to work closely with the SHA to ensure that necessary measuresare in place to protect all students and staff,” Lerminiaux said. “We are confident that we will be able to safely resume in-class learning at Indian Head Elementary School.”

Families, staff, students and the community are advised to continue following public health guidance to protect themselves and those around them. This includes self-monitoring for symptoms, getting tested, and practicing good hand hygiene.
