Jim Vermeersch is the new Lions district governor

Jim Vermeersch of the Estevan Lions Club has become district governor for District 5SKS of Lions Clubs International for 2019-20. Vermeersch officially became district governor July 1 at the Lions Clubs International convention in Milan, Italy.

Jim Vermeersch of the Estevan Lions Club has become district governor for District 5SKS of Lions Clubs International for 2019-20. 

Vermeersch officially became district governor July 1 at the Lions Clubs International convention in Milan, Italy. He succeeds Dennis Feduk of the Carlyle Lions Club. 

District 5SKS covers the southern part of Saskatchewan. 

Vermeersch is a graduate of the University of Saskatchewan with a teaching degree. He taught a number of years and then decided to pursue a profession in accounting designation, which he received in 2002. He worked as an accountant in public practice, and recently retired from owning his own public accounting firm in Estevan. He now teaches a college business diploma program part-time. 

He has been a Lion for more than 25 years, and has served in many executive positions during his time with both the Carlyle Lions Club and Estevan Lions Club. He was elected second-vice district governor two years ago.
