The Second Chance Fashion Show last year was such a big success that Choose Life Ministry has decided to host the event for the second straight year.

The fashion show will happen on April 23 at Living Hope Community Church in Estevan. Doors open at 12:30 p.m., dessert will be served at 1 p.m. and the fashion show will happen throughout the afternoon.

“We’ll carry on in the afternoon with a silent auction, some other prizes and, of course, the fashion show, featuring about 55 outfits and various models,” said Choose Life founder Shelley Boyes.

Molly Thomas, a broadcaster who used to work at CTV Morning Live in Regina, will be the commentator at the event. She now works in Toronto with the Global television series Context with Lorna Dueck.

“One of our board members had a contact with Molly through Briercrest College, so we just contacted her, and she said she would be happy to come,” said Boyes.

Jones New York clothing line will be one of the women’s fashions sponsors for the show. They are donating items that will be auctioned off.

But most of the clothes and accessories will come from Choose Life’s Second Chance Thrift Store.

Pies and desserts will also be auctioned off.

“It’s a nice family event, so we’re looking forward to having a few more children there this year,” said Boyes.

They have enough models for the event, but they’re still looking for volunteers to help backstage with styling hair, applying make-up and helping to dress the models.

Last year’s event raised about $10,000 for Choose Life, and Boyes said the ministry wanted to host the event again after the success of last year’s inaugural show.

One of the highlights of last year’s show came when Boyes announced that they would be proceeding with their home in southeast Saskatchewan for young women with addictions and other life-controlling issues, with a goal of operating in 2016.

Boyes said they will have another big announcement to make this year, too.
