Most schools in the southeast will return to in-class learning on April 26

Most schools in the South East Cornerstone Public School Division and all schools in the Holy Family Roman Catholic Separate School Division will return to Level 2, in-class learning, effective April 26 as planned.

Most schools in the South East Cornerstone Public School Division and all schools in the Holy Family Roman Catholic Separate School Division will return to Level 2, in-class learning, effective April 26 as planned.

Spruce Ridge School in Estevan will extend remote learning until May 3, due to limited staff availability. The Estevan Comprehensive School and the Weyburn Comprehensive School (Grades 9-12) will move to Level 3 effective April 26, with a planned return to Level 2 on May 10th.

The two comprehensive schools were at Level 3 learning from mid-November to early March.

This is a joint decision between the Cornerstone board of education, Holy Family board of education and the local medical health officers who support the southeast region.

“Challenges remain in our area of the province due to variants of concern, thus we must remain vigilant in our efforts to mitigate exposure. As we return to in-class learning we will work closely with Public Health to respond to local situations by class, school and community,” the two divisions said in a news release.

Cornerstone and Holy Family stress their top priority is the health and safety of all staff, students and communities as they strive to provide the best education possible during these difficult times.

They remind parents to please keep children at home if your child has any symptoms of COVID-19 and to please call the HealthLine at 811. Refer to the daily self-assessment checklist located at saskatchewan.ca to monitor for signs and symptoms prior to attending school each day.

South East Cornerstone and Holy Family announced on April 1 that all schools within their respective divisions would shift to Level 4, remote learning after the Easter break. The break ran from April 2 to April 9, and students have been learning at home since April 12.
