Nomination papers filed for RM of Estevan election

Several more candidates have filed nomination papers for the upcoming civic election in the RM of Estevan. Jeff Mack has filed his papers for Division 1. He’ll go up against incumbent Councillor Lorne Jahn, who previously filed.

Several more candidates have filed nomination papers for the upcoming civic election in the RM of Estevan.

Incumbent Councillor Dennis Blackburn has filed in Division 3. Kevin Daoust had previously filed, so there will be a vote in that division.

Mona Dukart has filed papers in Division 5 this week.

Nobody had filed papers for reeve, as of Thursday afternoon.

As for Estevan city council, nobody had filed Thursday as of 4 p.m. That means there are still two candidates for mayor and six for councillor.

Incumbent mayor Roy Ludwig has been challenged by first-time candidate Ray Walton, so there will be an election for mayor.

Incumbent councillors Shelly Veroba and Travis Frank have filed for councillor. Lindsay Clark, Geoff Thiessen, Kirsten Walliser and Bernadette Wright are first-time candidates.

If one more candidate files for councillor, an election will be needed.

One person has filed to be an Estevan trustee for the South East Cornerstone Public School Division: Eric McCrimmon, who is a first-time candidate.

Nobody has filed to be an Estevan representative on the Holy Family Roman Catholic Separate School Division’s board.

The deadline to file is Oct. 7. The election will be Nov. 9.
