The Estevan area was struck by a pair of thunderstorms on Saturday morning.

The first storm struck at about 6 a.m. and brought some heavy rain. A stronger, more sustained storm hit just before 10 a.m., bringing thunder, lightning and heavier rain to the city. It also knocked out power in Estevan for a few minutes.

Despite the heavy rain, Environment Canada did not issue a severe thunderstorm watch or warning for Estevan on Saturday. A watch was in effect Friday, but the city did not receive a significant thunderstorm.

The storm didn't stop the slack performance from happening at the Estevan Exhibition Association's annual rodeo, as entrants competed in several rodeo disciplines.

The Mercury will have more details as they become available.
