Saskatchewan COVID-19 update: five new cases, six more recoveries, eight in hospital

There are five new cases of COVID-19 to report in Saskatchewan on July 15, bringing the total to 881 cases. Three of the new cases are in the central region, one is in the Saskatoon region and one is in the south.

There are five new cases of COVID-19 to report in Saskatchewan on July 15, bringing the total to 881 cases. Three of the new cases are in the central region, one is in the Saskatoon region and one is in the south.

Of the 881 reported cases, 75, or about 8.5 per cent, are considered active. 

Six more people have recovered, bring the total number to 791. Approximately 89.8 per cent of the people diagnosed with COVID-19 in Saskatchewan have recovered.

Eight people are in hospital. Six people are receiving inpatient care; five in Saskatoon and one in the south. Two people are in intensive care, one in Saskatoon and one in the south.

Eighty-four people from the south region have been diagnosed with COVID-19; 18 cases are considered active. There have been 339 cases from the far north, 200 from the Saskatoon area, 120 from the north, 85 from the Regina area and 53 from the central region.

Of the 881 cases in the province, 179 cases are travellers, 497 are community contacts (including mass gatherings), 132 have no known exposures and 73 are under investigation by local public health.

Fifty-eight cases are health care workers; however, the source of the infections may not be related to health care in all instances.

A total of 122 cases involve people 19 years of age and under, 310 cases are in the 20-39 age range, 271 are in the 40-59 age range, 153 are in the 60-79 age range and 25 are in the 80-plus range.

Fifty-one per cent of the cases are females and 49 per cent are males.

Fifteen deaths related to COVID-19 have been reported.

To date, 76,694 COVID‐19 tests have been performed in Saskatchewan. As of July 13, when other provincial and national numbers were available from the Public Health Agency of Canada, Saskatchewan’s per capita rate was 56,330 people tested per million population. The national rate was 87,857 people tested per million population.
