People in Saskatchewan are being asked to show how much they love the province by entering the Saskatchewan Love contest.

The contest organizers sent a letter to Estevan city council before Monday night’s meeting in an effort to promote the contest. They called it a province-wide, collaborative writing project that will bring communities together.

Krista McDivitt and Michael Slobodian are the founders of Here we Inspire Creative Publishing, and the people behind the Sask. Love Project. They are gathering stories written by the people of the province, highlighting all the reasons to love Saskatchewan.

“The Sask. Love Project will capture who Saskatchewan is today from young children who are just learning about this amazing province, to our residents who have lived their long lives in the wheat fields or in our beautiful cities, and everyone in between,” the letter states.

McDivitt and Slobodian hope people will come together and raise their voices to be heard.

“We will be gathering submissions throughout the summer of 2019 from people all around Saskatchewan who wish to be a part of The Sask. Love Project.”

Each suitable submission will be incorporated into a publication, with the contributors being credited as participating members.

In order to ensure quality, there will be a $5 fee per submission.

People can submit their entries at a Sask. Love project event, or by sending their writings to the project online or in mail.

To encourage all communities in the province and as an incentive for rural Saskatchewan to participate in this project, the community that enters the most suitable submissions will not only be a part of The Sask. Love Project, but will be the focus of their very own book that will show the world their amazing small town.

Submissions must be 100 words or less, original in nature, legible and appropriate for all ages. They must also be in English.
