Stoughton Central School celebrated grads

Stoughton Central School brought the 2019 graduation festivities to a close.

Stoughton Central School brought the 2019 graduation festivities to a close. On Thursday night the school gym was decorated with black and white details and a 10-foot balloon arch offered a great spot for grads to take pictures with their friends, teachers and family. The colours of the night were black, silver and gold.

On the same day, prior to the big celebration, nine Stoughton Central School graduates had their group picture taken.

The ceremony started at 7 p.m. The guest speaker of the night was Regina’s Murad Al-Katib, who is the president and CEO of AGT Foods and Ingredients incorporated.

Kimberly Kazimer, the vice-principal of Stoughton Central School, explained how they decided on who they wanted to address the grads this night.

“We had a suggestion from one of the parents and then as a group, we thought that would be lovely.”

They also had greetings from Chief Cody Big Eagle from Ocean Man First Nation and a few other speakers.

The night continued with the presentation of diplomas, grand march and dance for family, friends and anybody who is in the audience.

A month earlier, on May 31, the school also had a barbecue for the families, the graduates, escorts and the teachers, which, according to Kazimer was well attended.

She also noted that graduates were very helpful in preparation for their last day of school.

“We only have nine (grads), but they’ve been working like an army… It’s has been absolutely joyful. They’ve been so supportive and so helpful that grad preparation this year has been fun,” she said.

Kazimer also expressed hope that grads felt like real VIPs during the graduation night, because, “honestly, they deserve it.”
