Update: Robert Kitchen will represent Souris-Moose Mountain for a second term

Robert Kitchen of the Conservative Party will represent the Souris-Moose Mountain constituency for a second term. With 146 of 192 polls reporting, Kitchen had 27,132 of the 31,645 votes cast, or 85.7 per cent.

Robert Kitchen of the Conservative Party will represent the Souris-Moose Mountain constituency for a second term.

With 146 of 192 polls reporting, Kitchen had 27,132 of the 31,645 votes cast, or 85.7 per cent. There are 51,957 eligible voters in Souris-Moose Mountain, meaning Kitchen will receive at least 50 per cent of support from eligible voters in the riding.

Ashlee Hicks of the New Democratic Party was second with 2,195 votes, followed by Javin Ames-Sinclair of the Liberal Party with 1,177, Phillip Zajac of the People’s Party of Canada (538), Judy Mergel of the Green Party (478) and Travis Patrn of the People’s Party of Canada (125).

As for the Saskatchewan result, the Tories were leading or elected in all 14 ridings. That includes Regina-Wascana, where Michael Kram defeated long-time Liberal MP Ralph Goodale, who was at one time represented southeast Saskatchewan back when the riding was known as Assiniboia.  

The Liberals will form a minority government. As of 10:10 p.m., the Liberals were leading or elected in 156 ridings, following by the Conservatives with 121, the Bloc Quebecois with 32, the NDP with 25 and the Green Party with three. One independent was also leading.

The Tories did have 34.4 per cent of the popular vote, compared to 33.1 per cent for the Liberals.
