The power outage that struck several southeast Saskatchewan communities has been resolved.

SaskPower initially sent out a tweet at 5:22 p.m. Tuesday, saying an emergency outage was affecting customers in Estevan between Second Avenue and 16th Avenue, south of Fourth Street.

The outage was caused by a power pole that was on fire, after a cross member burned away. The power pole was located near the intersection of 13th Avenue and Third Street.

Members of the Estevan Fire Rescue Service were called to the scene.

At the time, SaskPower estimated the power would be restored by 5:45 p.m.

But at 6:11 p.m., SaskPower sent out another tweet, saying that while responding to a pole on fire, it caused an equipment failure at the substation.
