Sask. COVID-19 update: One additional death, 197 new cases, but just two in the southeast

One resident in the 80-plus age group who tested positive for COVID-19 has died. The person was from the northwest zone. There are 197 new cases of COVID-19 to report in Saskatchewan on Nov. 28, bringing the provincial total to date to 7,888 cases.

There are 197 new cases of COVID-19 to report in Saskatchewan on Nov. 28, bringing the provincial total to date to 7,888 cases. 

Two of the new cases are in the southeast region. Neither is in Southeast Zone 4, which includes Estevan. One case is in Zone 1, to the northwest of Zone 4, and one is in Zone 2, to the north of Zone 4.

There are 17 active cases in Zone 4, and 153 active cases in the southeast region.

Nine more people in the southeast are considered recovered. None of the new recoveries are in Zone 4.

There have been 255 cases of COVID-19 in southeast Saskatchewan since mid-March.

The other new cases in Saskatchewan are located in the far northwest (6), far northeast (4), northwest (5), north central (17), northeast (5), Saskatoon (56), central west (1), central east (5), Regina (73), southwest (16) and south central (5).

Two new cases have pending location information.

Four previous cases with pending residence information have been assigned to the north central and one is the northwest.

The seven-day average of daily new cases is 234 (19.3 new cases per 100,000 population).

Of the 7,888 reported cases, 3,322, or 40.8 per cent, are considered active. 

An additional 137 people have recovered, bringing the total number of recoveries to 4,521, or 57.3 per cent of those diagnosed.

One-hundred and six people are in hospital. Eighty-eight people are receiving inpatient care: one in the far northwest, nine in the northwest, seven in north central, one in northeast, 30 in Saskatoon, one in central east, 18 in Regina, one in southwest, one in south central and 19 in the southeast zone. 

Eighteen people are in intensive care: one in north central, 11 in Saskatoon, one in south west and five in Regina.

Forty-five people with COVID-19 have died in Saskatchewan.

A total of 3,359 COVID-19 tests were processed in Saskatchewan on Friday.
