Cheers and Jeers for April 10

Cheers: Cheers to all of the truckers out there who are getting the products to market. If you didn’t know how essential they are before COVID-19, you do now.

Cheers to all of the truckers out there who are getting the products to market. If you didn’t know how essential they are before COVID-19, you do now.

Cheers to Anastasiia Bykhovskaia for sharing her April Fool’s Day joke on her mother from when she was a teenager in last week’s Mercury. It brought some comical relief during these difficult times.

Cheers to the city for applying for funding for a 13-kilometre, city-wide pathway network. What a wonderful way to enjoy this beautiful city we live in. In these days of self-isolation, we still need to exercise and enjoy the outdoors.

Cheers to Scotsburn Dental for sponsoring the kids page that appears in Southeast Lifestyles each week. It gives the young people more activities during this time.

Cheers to all of those who turned out last week for the flash mob at St. Joseph’s Hospital. We need to remind healthcare workers of how much we appreciate them.

Cheers to the emergency crews for their quick response to the explosion in east Estevan earlier this week.

Jeers:

Jeers to the two women in a service station talking inside the doors, two feet from each other, and not respecting social distancing. It’s situations like this that cause problems.

Jeers to those who feel the need to travel five to six hours north for a recreational activity during this time. The government and health authorities have put these travel restrictions in place for a reason. The more people are reckless, the longer it will take for all these bans to be lifted.

Jeers to the people of the community that use the Diabetes Canada clothing drop boxes as a place to leave garbage. At this time of crisis this is a very dangerous and unhealthy act.
