Cheers and Jeers for April 27

Cheers: Cheers to the Power Dodge Estevan Bruins for the outstanding season they had. It was great to see the team back in contention for a league title, and the players handled themselves so well on and off the ice.

Cheers to the Estevan Area Literacy Group for offering the Introduction to Family Literacy Course at the library in April.

Cheers to all the friendly children playing street hockey and having fun outdoors on Symons Bay. The parents deserve a pat on the back for raising such enthusiastic, respectful and polite young people.

Cheers to the return of a five-day Aquafit program each week at the RM of Estevan Aquatic Centre. It is a much needed service for those with aging and aching joints.  And thanks to the program leader.

Cheers to the organizers of the Creighton Lodge fundraiser last Friday at the Beefeater Plaza. It was a really fun evening.

Jeers:

Jeers to the driver of the truck who turned onto Souris Avenue South from Fourth Street on April 23, while a pedestrian was crossing the road. Wait until pedestrians are out of the way.

Jeers to the person who has left the gate open at a local resident’s home. If the dog gets out because of someone’s lack of consideration, the homeowners will be fined.

Jeers to the older couple who forced two young people to move out of their standing room-only spot at the April 17 Bruins game.

Jeers to the lack of promotion for the Flame Throwers International basketball tournament at Estevan Comprehensive School earlier this month. If more people knew about it, maybe they would have come to watch.

Jeers to Estevan having just one marijuana retailer, while Weyburn will have two. There should be as many in Estevan as there are in Weyburn.
