Cheers and Jeers for April 6

Cheers: Cheers to the local churches who came together for the Good Friday service last week and raised money for the Warm Welcome Kitchen. It’s been a valuable program.

Cheers to the local churches who came together for the Good Friday service last week and raised money for the Warm Welcome Kitchen. It’s been a valuable program.

Cheers to all of the fans who showed up for the Power Dodge Estevan Bruins games on Monday and Tuesday night. Has Affinity ever had so many fans present for a Bruins’ game?

Cheers to the Estevan Area Literacy Group for running its annual Battle of the Books. It’s great to see children encouraged to read.

Cheers to the organizations that offered activities for children during spring break. For those who aren’t travelling during spring break, these day camps are valuable services.

Cheers to the Estevan Strippers for all they do for the community each year through their Spring Bust tournament.

Jeers:

Jeers to the City of Estevan for the horrendous sound system in the Power Dodge Ice Centre. It’s painful to listen to. A screaming microphone for announcements and a distorted crackling speaker when music plays.

Jeers to the organizers of the circus that was in town on Tuesday for the location of the show. The show itself was fine. The location was not.

Jeers to those responsible for the hit and run collisions in the community over the past week. People need to take responsibility for their actions.

Jeers to the federal government for Bill C-71. It’s not going to make the country safer. It will only affect law-abiding gun owners.

Jeers to those who take to social media to complain about something, rather than going directly to the person or the organization they have a problem with.
