Cheers and Jeers for Aug. 23

Cheers: Cheers to the organizers of the Frobisher Thresherman’s Reunion. It’s always great to see the old-fashioned farming techniques and the tractors rolling through the village.

Cheers to the organizers of the Frobisher Thresherman’s Reunion. It’s always great to see the old-fashioned farming techniques and the tractors rolling through the village.

Cheers to everyone involved with the Carlyle Fun Dayz for hosting such an entertaining event for people of all ages, and making it free for the public to attend.

Cheers to the South Sask. Selects football program for coming to Estevan and putting on a clinic for young people to work on their football skills.

Cheers to the City of Estevan for bringing the Offspring and SUM 41 to Affinity Place in November. It will be a great concert, and a lot of fun.

Cheers to the stop signs that have been installed at the uncontrolled intersections in the community. They will help make our community safer.

Jeers:

Jeers to the expansion of the school zone on Victory Road for Pleasantdale School, while Hillcrest has the truck route on Perkins Street near its school and the worst traffic light set up in the city.

Jeers to an MLA from Estevan being named the minister for Northern Affairs. While she’ll do a fine job with her other new appointments, shouldn’t the Northern Affairs minister be someone closer to northern Saskatchewan?

Jeers to those who don’t take good care of their lawns, or who don’t trim their branches and shrubs, and allow them to become a problem for pedestrians.

Jeers to those who have been littering this summer, and making ditches and entrances unsightly. Nobody wants to see your discarded fast food containers and cigarette butts.
