Cheers to James Perry for organizing the BMX jam this coming Sunday. It’s wonderful to see the money raised go back into the community for the Special Olympics. Also the laid back atmosphere makes the event welcoming and encouraging for all ages to give it a whirl.

Cheers to the Heretics Motorcycle Club for their efforts to raise funds for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. It’s a meaningful cause for them, so it’s good to see their motorcycle ride was well supported.

Cheers to the Estevan Exhibition Association for organizing the rodeo, the kids’ rodeo and the rodeo cabaret. A great weekend filled with activities.

Cheers to the track preparation crew at the Estevan Motor Speedway for their efforts to get the track race-ready for the season championship program on Saturday night.

Cheers to the Estevan Police Service for bringing back their annual police open house on the weekend. It’s always good to see the cops out interacting with the public.

Cheers to the Woodlawn Regional Park for saluting Joe Lingelbach for his dedication to restoring Mets Stadium. It’s a great facility and he deserves to be saluted.

Jeers:

Jeers to the loss of Dr. Edward Krickan from this community. Another great physician gone. Maybe we should start taking a close look at why we can’t keep doctors happy.

Jeers to those who think the City of Estevan is using taxpayer dollars to hire the new coal transition employee. If you paid attention, you’d know the money came through federal funding.

Jeers to the speed limit being 60 kilometres per hour on Highway 47 from the truck bypass to the city limits. Once you get past the access road for the Dominion Heights subdivision, there isn’t much of a reason for the speed limit to be so low.
