Cheers and Jeers for Aug. 9

Cheers to the great people of Midale for all of the different events and activities that were offered during the August long weekend. It’s great to see so much happening in one small town.

Cheers to the local drivers for their victories at the Estevan Motor Speedway on Aug. 2. Five feature races, five winners from southeast Saskatchewan.

Cheers to the boater who rescued four people from Boundary Dam on Monday after their paddleboat capsized. Quick thinking prevented it from being a tragic situation.

Cheers to the Estevan Emergency Medical Services team for attending the Force Competition and other sporting events on July 27, and looking out for the participants’ safety.

Cheers to the TS&M Woodlawn Golf Course for doing such a great job of hosting the Frametech Classic this year. And for having the live results posted to their website.

Jeers to people who drive at 80 kilometres per hour on the highway. They might actually be more dangerous than the people who travel 150 kilometres per hour. And yes, jeers to the lead foots, too.

Jeers to shoppers who seem to think they’re the only people in the store. Please don’t block the aisles with your shopping carts.

Jeers to all of the mean world syndrome people out there who think the sky is falling, and who think that the world is a dark place. Most people are good. It’s some bad ones who give the rest a bad name.

Jeers to fact that summer is more than halfway over. Before we know it, fall will be here and school will be back in session.
