Cheers and Jeers for Feb. 21

Cheers: Cheers to all of the organizations in the community that planned day camps for the week off of school. It’s great to have activities that keep kids busy during the winter break.

Cheers to all of the organizations in the community that planned day camps for the week off of school. It’s great to have activities that keep kids busy during the winter break.

Cheers to the Estevan Lions Club for the always fun Family Day Swim. It’s one of those activities people look forward to each year.

Cheers to the Estevan Bruins for the way they played during their recent three-game home stand. Lots of goals, some great saves and a few fights. Nothing wrong with that.

Cheers to Pat Jeannot for his work as the principal of the Estevan Comprehensive School over the past seven years. Hopefully he enjoys his retirement.

Cheers to the revamped Newsbreak, now called Hello Estevan, that we’re seeing around town. It’s still a fun read, but now there’s more in it than ever before.

Cheers to the Estevan Comprehensive School for having a course that teaches students about the work and the contributions of first responders in the community.

Jeers:

Jeers to those who are taking to social media to complain about the proposed user fee increases in the city of Estevan. If you have a problem with it, call city hall.

Jeers to those who stop and ask pedestrians for directions when it’s really cold out, and then don’t take the time to offer that pedestrian a ride to their destination.

Jeers to the higher costs that we’ve seen on many items so far this year. And the reason for it can be summed up in two words: carbon tax.
