Cheers: Cheers to the female coaches within the Estevan Minor Hockey Association. They are doing a great job and are excellent role models to the young boys and girls they coach.

Cheers to the female coaches within the Estevan Minor Hockey Association. They are doing a great job and are excellent role models to the young boys and girls they coach.

Cheers to the dedicated members of the Estevan Fire Rescue Service who responded to four calls on Valentine’s Day.

Cheers to the Estevan Lions Club for holding the free swim at the Estevan Leisure Centre, and for serving snacks to the kids.

Cheers to the Souris Valley Museum and the Estevan Arts Council for holding activities for youths during the winter break. It’s nice to have something for kids to do.

Cheers to the Estevan Wildlife Federation for continuing to host an awards night each year, and for recognizing outstanding achievements by both adults and youths.

Jeers:

Jeers to the person driving a black truck who went through a red light on King Street on Feb. 15, turned left on Spruce Drive, and nearly t-boned a school bus filled with children.

Jeers to the dog owners who allow their dogs to use the front yards of people’s homes as a bathroom and then don't clean up the mess. Not only is it gross and disgusting to look at, it is a health hazard.

Jeers to the motorist who drove through a red light at the intersection of Fourth Street and Souris Avenue South on Feb. 21, even though the light had been red for some time.

Jeers to the latest person in town to be caught driving while impaired. Hopefully the local police’s efforts on impaired driving cause more people to change their behaviours.

Jeers to people who have refused to remove the snow from their sidewalks, making it hazardous for pedestrians to walk.
