Cheers and Jeers for Feb. 28

Cheers to fast food restaurant employees, grocery store cashiers and others who patiently wait for customers who insist on being difficult.

Cheers to fast food restaurant employees, grocery store cashiers and others who patiently wait for customers who insist on being difficult.

Cheers to the City of Estevan for keeping the walkway path between Wellock Road and King Street free of snow and ice this winter.

Cheers to Michael’s Coffee Shop and Bakery for opening a location in Estevan. The need for a place with freshly made specialty coffees and lunch items is what we have been missing out on for years. It’s so nice to see something locally owned, and someone with so much drive to make it a new and an exciting place.

Cheers to those who contribute to kids’ fundraising efforts. Every little bit helps teams and the generosity time after time is appreciated.

Cheers to the Estevan Kinsmen and Kinette Clubs for their annual Day of KIN-dness on the weekend. It’s always great when a senior citizen receives a rose, or you get something free from a vending machine. Hopefully some people paid it forward.

Cheers to the Heretics Motorcycle Club for hosting their annual ice fishing derby on Boundary Dam. It was a fun day on the ice, and it helped that the weather co-operated.

Jeers to the fact that Estevan seemingly has no doctors who are taking new patients. For those who recently moved here, it is really disheartening.

Jeers to the people hoping that Co-op refinery workers lose part of their pensions in the labour dispute that has been going on for months.

Jeers to those who take to social media to complain about local businesses and people when they could actually take up their concerns with people directly.
