Cheers and Jeers for Feb. 9

Cheers: Cheers to all of the volunteers and organizers who were part of the SaskTel Tankard in Estevan. The event was a huge success and hopefully other big curling events can be held at Affinity Place.

Cheers to everybody who works outdoors for a living, and continued to do their job despite the frigid conditions in southeast Saskatchewan last week.

Cheers to the Estevan Police Association for hosting a very entertaining Variety Night last week. It’s great to know that the money will go to charity as well.

Cheers to the two gentlemen who helped push a woman’s van out of a snowdrift recently. They are heroes.

Cheers to the senior boys and girls basketball teams at the Estevan Comprehensive School for the very entertaining games they had against Weyburn on Tuesday night as part of the McLeod Series.

Jeers:

Jeers to those who oppose a marijuana dispensary in Estevan. It’s not the 1990’s anymore, so give your head a shake.

Jeers to having just one marijuana dispensary in the city. It seems that most people in the community support having at least two dispensaries in Estevan.

Jeers to rejecting the Estevan Courthouse lawn as the site for the Forever in the Clouds monument. The Estevan Soldiers’ Tree is already there. Why not have a second beautiful monument?

Jeers to those who have left their pets outside night after night in the frigid temperatures. They need to be indoors at night.

Jeers to motorists who don’t stop when the lights are on and the crossing arm is extended for a school bus. It puts children at risk.
