Cheers and Jeers for Jan. 18

Cheers to Dr. Khalid Sheikh and the operating room nurses, and the nurses on the obstetrics/surgical unit at St. Joseph’s Hospital. They eased the nerves of a person undergoing surgery and the operation couldn’t have gone better.

Cheers to the City of Estevan for deciding not to increase property taxes or utility rates this year. It makes sense in these uncertain times.

Cheers to the provincial and federal governments for reaching an equivalency agreement that would extend the life of Units 4 and 5 at Boundary Dam.

Cheers to those who took advantage of the beautiful weather on Sunday and enjoyed some time outdoors, rather than spending the day inside.

Cheers to the Estevan Public Library for bringing back the Story Stroll. Hopefully the weather will co-operate.

Jeers to the two dunces who were caught racing down Fourth Street at speeds greater than 100 kilometres per hour. Some people should have their licences revoked.

Jeers to those who shame people whose vehicles have been stolen. It’s reached the point where you can’t leave your vehicle running with the doors unlocked for even a few seconds.

Jeers to those responsible for the scam calls. It’s frustrating for the recipients, and it causes people to not trust organizations like the STARS Air Ambulance.

Jeers to the fact that we’re seeing some items increasing in price already. Is this due to the impact of the carbon tax?

Jeers to motorists who refuse to yield the right of way for pedestrians at intersections.
