Cheers and Jeers for Jan. 24

Cheers: Cheers to Sobeys pharmacy for going out and giving a 95-year-old woman her flu shot on a frigid day. She lives at Creighton Lodge and missed the flu clinic shot as she was in the hospital.

Cheers to the Estevan Kinette Club for organizing the Princess and Superhero Ball this past weekend. It was a wonderful day and the kids looked great.

Cheers to the City of Estevan for the Our Estevan community plan. The document turned out really well. Hopefully it will benefit the community.

Cheers to the Estevan Sharks water polo program for holding a tournament on the weekend and bringing people to the city. The athletes had a lot of fun.

Cheers to the Estevan Mercury for its Babies of 2019 special. It’s great to see the photos of so many babies who were born to local people last year.

Cheers to the people who continue to exercise outdoors during the winter months. Yes, you can be fit outside even when it’s -30 C outside.

Jeers:

Jeers to the increase in thefts in the community recently. Mail thefts? Someone climbing onto a second floor apartment balcony? You have to wonder what’s wrong with some people.

Jeers to the number of motorists who we still see running red lights. Slow down, don’t be as aggressive and drive like you actually care about others.

Jeers to the timing for the CP Rail trains. It’s never going to change, but it would be nice if they didn’t roll through at the worst possible times during the day.
