Cheers and Jeers for July 26

Cheers to the person who wrote the letter to the editor in the July 10 edition of the Mercury about the city’s spending habits. Taxpayers are on the hook again.

Cheers to the City of Estevan for installing much-needed stop signs, especially the ones at Arthur Avenue and Eva Street. That intersection was an accident waiting to happen.

Cheers to SMILE Services. Estevan should be very proud to have such a wonderful organization in our community that helps people out.

Cheers to those involved with the Trackside Motocross Association for putting on a family friendly event on the weekend.

Cheers to the Estevan Oilfield Technical Society for hosting an Oilwomen’s golf tournament each year. It’s great to have an opportunity for women in the oilpatch to get together and mingle for a day.

Jeers to people who can’t keep their promises, they are only making themselves look bad and they prove that people can’t trust them.

Jeers to people who keep their pets and children in their cars on a hot day.

Jeers to anyone who would have a problem with a guide dog, a service dog or a therapy dog in a business. People have these dogs for a reason; they aren’t just somebody’s pet.

Jeers to the motorists who drive in an unsafe fashion, and make it necessary for the Estevan Police Service to host the two-day traffic blitz that seemed to annoy so many people.
